YOUR MISSION:
Reporting to the President and CEO, the Production Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the Metal and Vinyl departments. He or she oversees the planning, organization, optimization, and control of manufacturing operations to meet objectives for quality, safety, productivity, delivery times, and profitability.
He is responsible for production planning and managing the plant’s manufacturing capacity. Based on the order backlog, he sets manufacturing priorities, determines the work schedule, ensures the availability of necessary resources, and oversees compliance with production and delivery schedules.
He acts as a leader and is accountable for the plant’s operational results. He implements the systems, processes, and metrics that enable sustainable, continuous performance improvement. This responsibility is based in particular on the practices of planning, continuous improvement, KPI management, and process optimization identified in the planning and Lean roles.
MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Capacity Planning and Management
• Develop short-, medium-, and long-term production planning strategies.
• Translate the order backlog into a realistic and executable production plan.
• Determine manufacturing priorities and the order in which orders are processed based on deadlines, available capacity, and company objectives.
• Ensure a balance between demand, manufacturing capacity, human resources, and equipment.
• Adjust the schedule based on operational constraints.
• Identify bottlenecks, overload risks, and capacity variances, then implement the necessary actions.
• Ensure that manufacturing and delivery deadlines are met.
• Collaborate with sales, design, and purchasing to ensure the smooth execution of the order backlog.
• Ensure the availability of the resources necessary to execute the production plan.
Leadership and Team Management
• Mentor, develop, and motivate production managers.
• Set performance goals and monitor progress toward them.
• Participate in decisions regarding hiring, development, and succession planning for key positions.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Develop management skills within supervisory teams.
• Ensure teams are aligned with the company’s priorities and objectives.
Operational Performance Management
• Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Analyze performance variances and implement appropriate corrective actions.
• Ensure that objectives for productivity, performance, efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery are met.
• Develop and maintain management dashboards.
• Present operational results to management and recommend necessary actions.
• Use a PDCA approach to manage operations and improve results.
Inventory and Procurement Management
• Define strategic inventory levels and MIN/MAX parameters.
• Forecast raw material needs based on the order backlog and sales forecasts.
• Reduce the risk of stockouts and excess inventory.
• Collaborate with the purchasing department to ensure material availability.
• Optimize inventory management and material flows.
Budget Management
• Prepare and manage the annual operations budget.
• Control production costs.
• Identify opportunities to improve profitability.
• Participate in decisions regarding investments and infrastructure improvements.
• Ensure the optimal use of financial, human, and material resources.

After 3 months — Understanding, Credibility, and Assessment
• You have developed a thorough understanding of the Metal and Vinyl departments’ operations, production workflows, and key operational challenges.
• You have established a relationship of trust with supervisors and the company’s various departments.
• You are proficient in the management tools, planning systems, and metrics currently in use.
• You have identified key opportunities for improvement in productivity, planning, quality, and inventory management.
• You have developed a clear roadmap for priorities over the coming months.
Your onboarding is successful when the teams perceive you as a credible, organized, and solution-oriented leader.
After 6 Months — Structuring and Performance Improvement
• Your team is aligned around clear objectives and effective management routines.
• KPIs for production, quality, inventory, and occupational health and safety are rigorously tracked and used to inform decision-making.
• The first continuous improvement initiatives have generated measurable gains.
• The order backlog is translated into structured production plans, and manufacturing priorities are clearly established.
• Production lead times are better controlled, and capacity issues are anticipated several weeks in advance.
• Collaboration with sales, procurement, design, and maintenance is strengthened.
You are recognized as a key contributor to operational stability and the organization of the plant.
After 12 Months — Sustainable Performance and Recognized Leadership
• The Metal and Vinyl departments consistently meet their safety, quality, productivity, and delivery goals.
• Performance metrics are fully integrated into management routines.
• A culture of continuous improvement is well established among supervisors and teams.
• The optimization projects implemented have improved manufacturing capacity, profitability, and operational efficiency.
• The planning process is structured and predictable, enabling the plant to respond effectively to growth in the order backlog while meeting customer commitments.
• You have become the internal go-to expert for manufacturing management and actively contribute to the company’s strategic decisions.
Your success is measured by the sustainable performance of operations, the development of your team, and the plant’s ability to support Grandchamp’s growth.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, operations management, business administration, or a related field. Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• 5 years of experience in manufacturing management or production supervision.
• Significant experience in production planning, scheduling, capacity management, and priority management in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to plan resources based on the order backlog, operational constraints, and delivery schedules.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment undergoing growth or organizational transformation (a significant asset).
• Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (Odoo).
• Experience managing supervisors or first-line managers.
• Be versatile and enjoy working in an environment with varied responsibilities.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to clearly articulate objectives, identify alternatives, make sound and timely decisions, and implement selected solutions.
• Ability to make decisions quickly in an environment where priorities are constantly changing.
• Hands-on, pragmatic, and results-oriented approach.
