Position: Team Lead, Production (metal)

Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 hours/day

Salary: $30/hour

YOUR MISSION:

Reporting to the production supervisor, the team leader acts as a production facilitator within the metal shop. Their role is to ensure smooth operations by preparing work, supplying workstations, and supporting operators in order to minimize downtime and maximize the team’s productivity. He or she helps maintain an organized, safe, and efficient work environment that allows operators to focus primarily on production.

MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Coordination of Production Operations

• Prepare workstations before operations begin

• Ensure that blueprints, tools, parts, and raw materials are available

• Assign tasks and set priorities based on production needs

• Prepare for upcoming operations to avoid downtime

• Maintain an overview of the progress of work in the workshop

 

Supplying Workstations

• Retrieve the necessary materials, parts, and components

• Supply workstations to minimize operator movement

• Ensure that each workstation has the necessary resources for production

 

Supporting Operators

• Answer technical questions related to blueprints or work methods

• Clarify production instructions

• Help resolve problems encountered at workstations

• Support employees to prevent production stoppages

 

Production Monitoring

• Monitor the progress of jobs

• Identify bottlenecks or slowdowns

• Adjust priorities as needed

• Promptly inform the supervisor of any situation that could affect production

 

Workshop Organization and Efficiency

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

• Ensure that parts and materials are properly labeled and stored

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of work methods

 

Health and Safety

• Ensure compliance with safe work procedures

• Take action in the event of a hazardous situation or accident

• Help maintain a safe work environment

 

Operational Support

• Provide ad hoc support to operations as needed

• Take action to quickly resolve situations that could slow down production

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally in metal fabrication or processing

• Relevant experience in production coordination, such as a team leader or a point of contact for a production team

• Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, and manufacturing instructions

• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize

• Ability to anticipate production needs and quickly resolve problems

• Positive leadership and strong communication skills

• Independence, resourcefulness, and adaptability

• Commitment to quality and health and safety

• Experience in Lean production environments (5S, PDCA, Kaizen) is a plus

• Experience with CNC, laser tube, or plasma cutting equipment is a plus
