Montreal Port Authority

The Montreal Port Authority

Port of Mtl

Grandchamp and the Montreal Port Authority have joined forces on a major project of structured tents on the shores of the St. Lawrence River in Montreal. In fact, the Montreal Port Authority (MPA) has undertaken major rehabilitation work on the Alexandra pier as well as the cruise terminal. They had to move the cruise terminal about 7 km further east. In this way, two large semi-permanent marquees will be erected and will offer regular services to cruise ship passengers.

The Port of Montreal was won over by the product offered by Grandchamp Structure Design which, for several months, has been working on the development of an extraordinary tent. The tent structure presented to them lived up to their standards and reflected well the image of cruise passengers and the great city of Montreal.

Grandchamp Structure design, sister company of Grandchamp Chapiteaux, innovates royally with the oval design of the new structure and comes to revolutionize the world of marquees by offering a unique product to its customers.

In the end, two large free-standing structures totaling 700 ’long are installed during the summer period. These are an alternative ferry terminal for disembarking cruise ships. These marquees, created and built entirely by the Grandchamp group, are exceptionally robust. They can withstand winds up to 140 km / h. What makes this marquee the most resistant structure designed in North America! In addition, the Montreal Port Authority has acquired one of these 67 ′ x 450 ′ structural marquees. APM has retained the services of Grandchamp for annual maintenance for the next 5 years. This temporary building will accommodate the Large Cruise Ship which does not pass under the Jacques-Cartier Bridge. Cruise tourism on the St. Lawrence is therefore a growing market.
